The Terra Franca wines are made at the Anadia winery in Bairrada. They are fresh, forward and easy drinking multi-regional blends. Paulo Prior sources the fruit from vneyards across Portugal and oversees the winemaking, which focuses on preserving the varietal flavours and freshness of the grapes.
The Terra Franca Vinho Regional Branco is a multi-regional blend of grapes from across Portugal made in the modern São Mateus Vinification Centre in Anadia, Bairrada. All grapes used in the blend are sourced from carefully-selected growers.
The 2018 vintage was marked by extreme weather that affected the vegetative cycle of the vines. Winter and spring were cold and rainy and the humid conditions required more intense work in the vineyard to minimise the risk of disease. However, summer was warm and dry and the grapes underwent a problem-free ripening period. The quality of the grapes harvested was excellent.
Fruit was crushed and gently pressed to minimise over-extraction and produce a delicately aromatic and balanced must. Alcoholic fermentation took place in stainless-steel tanks at controlled temperatures of 14-16ºC. After fermentation, the wine aged for around three months on its fine lees to create complexity and depth. Prior to bottling, it underwent cold stabilisation and filtration.
This wine is pale yellow in colour with youthful highlights. On the nose aromas of apricot, peach and pineapple mingle with floral notes. Crisp acidity and intense fruit flavours on the palate lead to a fresh finish. A wine of excellent balance and concentration
