TYDY, `The Holy Snail` Sauvignon Blanc IGP Val de Loire 2018

6 In Stock

TYDY stands for Thierry Delaunay, the fifth-generation owner of Domaine Joël Delaunay. It is made from Sauvignon Blanc grown in the Touraine region. Holy Snail is another label. Both are IGP Valle de la Loire, so offer great value.

The Holy Snail Sauvignon Blanc is blended from fine cuvées of Sauvignon Blanc from across the Touraine region of the Loire Valley. A portion of the grapes are bought in from long-standing growers, carefully selected by Thierry Delaunay.

The 2018 vintage in Loire was excellent. The vines were spared from hail and frost this year. High temperatures, sun and the lack of rain in July and August accelerated the ripening. The quality and quantity of grapes were up compared to the last two vintages.

After pneumatic pressing, alcoholic fermentation took place in stainless-steel tanks over a period of 20 days at 16°C. After fermentation, the wine was aged on fine lees and then blended by Thierry Delaunay before cross-flow filtration and bottling.

This Sauvignon Blanc is pale yellow in colour with green tints. It has an expressive nose, marrying grapefruit, fresh lime and a subtle touch of tropical fruit. These bright fruits continue onto the palate, which is round, fleshy and framed by a delicate touch of sweetness.
